Valentine's Day Sweet Treat: Crunchy Chocolate Covered Apple Hearts

Valentine’s Day is approaching, and we all need a ~sweet treat~ in our lives. Grace was feeling inspired this week and made these crispy & delicious apple bites with our Maple Cinnamon Snack Mix, a chocolate drizzle, and pink glittery sugar to top it all off. Want to make some of these for your special someone next week? Here’s what you’ll need:

🍫Apples (we used granny smith because they’re tart and it’s bomb with the chocolate

🍫Maple Cinnamon Snack Mix

🍫Your favorite chocolate bar (we used Endangered Species 72% Dark Chocolate)

🍫Glittery sugar (we used Bakery Bling because they’re gluten and nut-free!)

And now for the 411:

🍫First, cut your apples in half and scoop out the core with any remaining seeds.

🍫Once your apples are ready to eat, slice them vertically into ¼”-½” discs.

🍫Now, carefully carve your apple slices into hearts by trimming the edges down, or using a heart-shaped cookie cutter if you are more prepared for this than we are. Check out our Instagram reel on this recipe to watch Grace’s carving mastery.

🍫Ok… now we’re gonna melt our chocolate. We used the double boiler method here. Place a pot on the stove filled with about 2 inches of water. Atop the pot, place a stainless steel or heat-safe glass bowl filled with your chocolate bar, broken up into pieces. As the water heats, you’ll see the chocolate begin to melt. Once it’s getting a little melty on the bottom, use a spatula to stir around the chocolate and help it melt quicker.

🍫While we’re waiting for the chocolate to melt, head back to your apples. Now, crack open your fresh Maple Cinnamon Snack Mix. Grab a nice lil handful with some yummy clusters, and give each apple-heart a little sprinkle of joy.

🍫Check on your chocolate. By now, it should be nice and melty. Whip and stir gently, allowing the chocolate to fully melt. Once melted, using a spoon, drizzle chocolate over each apple to your liking.

🍫Finish that baby off with a dash of glittery sugar for a festive glow.

🍫Pop those babies in the fridge or freezer until they’re set. Keep in mind, if you put them in the freezer for too long, the apple and snack mix will freeze too. We’d recommend about 15-20 minutes in the fridge.

🍫You’re READY TO PLATE! Lay your tasty creations on a serving platter, and SNACK ABSURDLY!
