12 DAYS OF DEMOS!

We just came off a hottttt stretch of demo’s to kick off December. To ring in the holiday season, we wanted to spread the Absurd love, so we planned a roadshow: The 12 Days of Demos.

The roadshow spanned everywhere from our homebase in Richmond all the way up to Pittsburgh, PA. Over the course of 2 weeks, we actually hit almost TWENTY stores!!

First, what the heck is a demo, you ask? Glad ya asked! Demos, or samplings, are pop-ups that usually take place in a retail store. Demos have proven to be our most effective way of introducing new people (like you) to our snacks. We typically set up in a grocery store, put out samples of our snack mixes, and give out stickers and other fun merch while we are at it. The hope, of course, is that passersby will try and love the snacks, and maybe even grab a bag for them and their family.

The roadshow kicked off on December 1 and saw the team show up:

December 1: Whole Foods Charlottesville, VA

December 2: Whole Foods Vienna, VA

December 3: Whole Foods Tyson’s Corner, VA

December 4: Whole Foods Reston, VA

December 5: Whole Foods Arlington, VA

December 6: This was a big day! We had demos at 4 separate Whole Foods stores. Newport News, Virginia Beach, Old Town, and Springfield Plaza! All across Virginia.

December 7: Whole Foods West Broad (Richmond, VA)

December 8: This was a milestone of a demo. The first demo employee we’ve ever hired who wasn’t a friend or family member (we still love you Momma Mittl). Anita crushed it at the Short Pump, VA Whole Foods!

December 13: After launching in 3 new Whole Foods stores around Pittsburgh, we made the trek up to meet the teams. On the 13th, we visited the Wexford and Pittsburgh, PA stores and demoed to their store teams. Honestly, these were some of the warmest welcomes we’ve ever had. These store teams were amazing! We brought fun merch and swag for everyone to enjoy too.

December 14: Another 4 store day! We hit the Wexford, Pittsburgh, and South Hills Whole Foods while our friend Dre did her first Absurd Snacks demo in Philadelphia at the Center City Whole Foods! She brought this incredibly cute sign to spruce up the table and we are obsessed. The team is growing!! Ah!!

December 15: We closed out 12 days of demos STRONG. The 15th was our last day in PIttsburgh, and we closed it out with anothherrrr demo at the Whole Foods Pittsburgh and South Hills stores. If you’ve made it this far, you may have realized we only actually demoed 11 days. Busted. BUT - we made up for it with 19 pop-ups, no??!

We celebrated the successful end of our two weeks of demoing non-stop with big bowls of ramen. Nothing hits home like a warm, cozy bowl of soup on a 20* winter day, ya know?

Grace just did the math and between the two of us, we’ve done over 100 demos this year. IN WHOLE FOODS ALONE! Each demo is typically 4 hours, so let’s call it 400 hours? Guys - that’s almost 17 days spent in Whole Foods stores this year. 17 days!!!
