A Day in the Life as an Intern at Absurd Snacks
Have you ever wondered what it really looks like to have an internship during the summer? I know that I did!
After a few weeks as an intern at Absurd Snacks, I have learned that no two days look the same. Between early mornings at swim practice, grocery store demos and talking to strangers around the city, my days are pretty interesting!
My alarm goes off at 4:57, I turn it off, and I get right out of bed and walk to the kitchen. My first stop is the coffee maker, which I prepared the night before. While my coffee is brewing, I begin making my pre-practice meal. 9 times out of 10, it's oatmeal with banana and honey.
Once my coffee and breakfast are finished, I head out and make my way to swim practice.
After a two hour swim practice I make the drive back home, munching on some Maple Cinnamon Absurd Snacks, along the way. They’re easy to throw in my back to have as a post workout snack, packed with plant-protein and fiber. After a shower, I have a second breakfast, and a second coffee. Then it's time to pack lunch and head back out for work. (I forgot lunch on one of my first days, rookie mistake.).
Most days look different working for Absurd Snacks, and that's one of my favorite parts of working there.
Some days I work in person with Grace and Eli at Start Up Virginia, an entrepreneurial hub where startups are able to have a space to learn, collaborate and grow! Other days I go to a local grocery store and set up a demo table to introduce shoppers to Absurd Snacks.
Then there are days I hit the streets of RVA with a tiny microphone in one hand and free snacks in the other. I chat with strangers and ask them some absurd questions and in turn, they get a free snack!
No matter what my day looks like, I have learned that working for a growing start-up means being ready for anything. One minute I am brainstorming marketing ideas and the next I am handing out samples at grocery stores or filming content.
This internship has kept me busy, but I am learning so much. And through the unpredictability of the days, there is always an Absurd Snack to keep me fueled.
